Since the Month of February is Black History Month we're also going to dedicate this program to St. Martin de Porres who is the first Black Saint of the Americas.

This episode of Building A Civilization of Love features a world wide exclusive Radio Teopoli AM 530 interview with Immaculee Ilibagiza who miraculously survived the Rwandan genocide in 1994 with seven other women spending 91 days hidden silently in a cramped bathroom in the local Hutu pastor's home while the Hutu majority massacred close to one million Tutsis. Immaculee a Tutsi member, wrote about her horrific ordeal in a book entitled Left to Tell Discovering God Amidst The Rwandan Holocaust, (A New York Times Best Seller ) and how her faith helped her to survive and even forgive the killers of her own family. On Tuesday, December 22nd's special Christmas edition of Building A Civilization of Love from 1PM- 2PM on AM530 or www.teopoli.org we featured a world wide exclusive Radio Teopoli AM 530 interview with Father Brian Kolodiejchuk, M.C. who is Postulator for the Cause of Canonization of Blessed Mother Teresa and the Director of the Mother Teresa Centre. Father Brian is also the Author of Mother Teresa Come Be My Light The Private Writings of the "Saint of Calcutta" which made world wide headlines in the secular press when it came out a few years ago.

Radio Teopoli AM 530 also featured Christmas songs from "The Christmas Collection CD" by the St. Benedict's Church Choir in Toronto and short interview with Choir Director Tammie Cancelli.

In our first segment for our latest edition Building A Civilization of Love Anna Lopinski, Chairman of St. Maximilian Parish Council discussed this wonderful Polish Saint and how St. Maximilian Parish in Mississauga, Ontario celebrated the Feast Day of this remarkable Saint.

Following our interview about St. Maximilian Kolbe, Laura Cirami interviewed Vanessa Nicholas-Schmidt, Assistant Director of Faith Connections from the Sisters of St. Joseph in Toronto in which they discussed the past Faith Connections' Theology on Tap that featured Father James Mallon, Pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas Canadian Martyrs Parish in the Archdiocese of Halifax who is also Founder and Director of the John Paul Media Institute and creator of Alpha's "Catholicism 201" that took place at the Duke of York Pub on August 20, 2009, downtown Toronto.

After Laura's interview with Vanessa, Radio Teopoli, AM530 featured an interview Frank Ruffolo pre-recorded via telephone with Father James Mallon.

Our good friend, Maria Masucci with the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board was in studio with special guests to give an update on Third World Missions to the Dominican Republic.

Last but never least, we had our monthly special guest Lawyer Michael Pasquale, Author of St. Clair Pro Bono Oath in studio with us to do his Legal Briefs segment.

July 31st- Building A Civilization of Love Download


This past week's program we explored Building A Civilization of Love by changing the culture through music. This program was dedicated to Saint Ignatius of Loyola whose feast day was July 31st, and Saint Martha whose feast day was Wednesday July 29, 2009.

In our first segment on Building A Civilization of Love we had Father Norbert Glasmacher, Director of Vocations, Evangelization and Youth Ofiice in Peterborough via telephone to find out all about Sonfest '09 Catholic Youth Festival of the Diocese of Peterborough geared towards youth from 15-30 years of age taking place from August 14-16, 2009, at Holy Trinity Secondary School hosted by St. Therese Parish in Courtice, Ontario.

Following the segment on Sonfest '09 in the Diocese of Peterborough, we had Susan M. Dela Rosa via telephone
to let us know all about the 29th Filipino Annual Midland Martyrs’ Shrine Pilgrimage taking place on Saturday, August 8th, 2009.

Then John Dawson the Program Coordinator and Music Director for the Office of Catholic Youth Archdiocese of Toronto, who is a very talented and gifted musician himself, explained his role as Music Director for the Archdiocese of Toronto, and the important role music can play in Building A Civilization of Love by the changing the culture through music.

After the interview with John Dawson, week number three and the final episode of Stefanie and Catie's Excellent Adventure in Italy studying Italian during their summer vacation as a credit course towards their high school studies from St. Elisabeth Catholic High School in York Region just outside of the City of Toronto with Centro Scola. July 24th Building A Civilization of Love Download

This past week's Building A Civilization of Love was dedicated to the Feast Day of St. Mary Magdelene, which took place Wednesday July 22nd, 2009, St. James, Apostle whose Feast Day is Saturday July 25, 2009, and to St. John Bosco founder of the Salesians which this year marks the 150th Anniversary since Don Bosco founded the society dedicated to youth. Friday's edition of Building a Civilization of Love will focus on Catholic youth activities around the Archdiocese of Toronto and beyond.

The Fifth International Youth Conference will take place at the Basilica of St. Francis, in Assisi, Italy from Sunday August 2nd, to Sunday August 9th, 2009. This international gathering of youth will be a pilgrimage to various Franciscan sites with participants traveling to Rome to see the Holy Father on August 5th, 2009. Friar Ed Debono gave us all the details of the Fifth International Youth Conference in Assisi, Italy on a live telephone interview.
During our second segment we had week two of Stephanie and Catie's Excellent Adventure in Porto S. Girogio, Italy to take a summer credit course to study Italian with Centro Scola from St. Elisabeth Catholic High School in York Region just outside of the City of Toronto. They told us all about their visit to St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, Italy, and much more.

Talking about Stephanie and Catie's Excellent Adventure in Italy, Father Paolo Fedrigoni, IMC Consolata Missionaries Toronto, had very exciting and excellent news to share with our Radio Teopoli AM530 audience about a former seminary student he taught in Africa, who was installed a Bishop this past Monday July, 20, 2009, in this the Year of Priests.

While still on the topic of Africa, Access Charity will hold their Fourth Annual School Supply Drive from August 22-30, to benefit needy children in developing countries such as Honduras and Tanzania, Africa. Access Charity was founded more than four years ago by 16-year old Daniel Francavilla, a former student at St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic High School in Brampton, Ontario. 19-year old Maxine Bower, the Promotions Director for Access Charity discussed the Fourth Annual Supply Drive and let us know how we can help in a pre-recorded telephone interview.

Dr. Christian Elia, Director of Office of Catholic Youth for the Archdiocese of Toronto let us know about the past weekend's Archdiocesan Youth Rally that took place at Martyrs' Shrine in Midland, Ontario and keeping up with Catholic Youth Conferences in the Archdiocese of Toronto and beyond we had
Carolyn Girard, Reporter/Editor of Youth Speak News, for The Catholic Register and she discussed a Catholic Youth Conference she attended called "Journey to the Father" in the diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall and some news stories from the Catholic Register.

Last but not least,
Romeo Meleca dropped by the Radio Teopoli, AM530 studio to tell us about his Pilgrimage of Love fund raising walk to Teopoli taking place later this Summer. Teopoli is located in Gravenhurst, Ontario, which would be about a two hundred kilometer walk. In this interview Romeo
told us what inspired him to undertake this long distance fund raising trek to Teopoli in the month of August this year.

July 17th - Building A Civilization of Love Download

This past Friday's Building A Civilization of Love was dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel whose Feast Day was Thursday July 16, 2009, and to St. Anne whose Feast Day will be celebrated on Sunday July 26, 2009.

With the Feast Day of St. Anne fast approaching for Sunday July 26, 2009, preparations for this annual feast day to the Mother of the Virgin Mary and Grandmother of Jesus are well underway by organizers expecting close to one and a half a million pilgrims annually making their way to the magnificent Shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre located just 15 minutes outside of Quebec City, Quebec, right next to the shores of the St. Lawrence River. With us via pre-recorded telephone interview is Father Pilote, who's the Director of the Shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre who gave us all the details.

Following our interview with Father Pilote, we featured an interview via telephone from just outside Quebec City, Quebec, with Father Guy Desrochers who is the Director of a wonderful magazine titled, The Annals of St. Anne de Beaupre. Father Guy a former newspaper journalist before entering the priesthood has just finished his first year as the Director of The Annals of St. Anne de Beaupre.

Right after that we featured a special segment called Stephanie and Catie's Excellent Adventure in studying Italian in Italy as a credit course for their final year into Grade 12. Join both Laura Cirami and I as we discover what 17-year-old Stephanie Carnevale and her next door neighbour Catie Sutherland, from St. Elisabeth Catholic High School in York Region with Centro Scola give us a weekly update on their Excellent Adventure studying Italian in Italy. I don't think it could get much better than that learning Italian while spending part of your summer vacation in Italy. Now that's Amore!

Following Stephanie and Catie's Excellent adventure in Italy update, Building A Civilization of Love took you right across Canada to the province of British Columbia where our next guest Natalie Hudson, is the Director of Education and Outreach for Signal Hill. Natalie was formerly the Executive Director of Toronto Right To Life Association for a number of years before moving to British Columbia to play a leading role in the pro-life movement in B.C. In just a few short days Suzanne will be leaving All Saint Parish in Toronto on July 20, 2009, to pursue other opportunities and record a Christmas CD in Australia. We found out all about Suzanne and her exciting move to Australia to continue Building A Civlization of Love as a multi-talented singer for love of God and Love of neighbour.

Friday's Building A Civilization of Love's first segment featured a world wide Radio Teopoli AM530 exclusive interview via telephone from the UK, featuring Josephine Siedliecka, founder and Editor of the Independent Catholic News which is the first daily on-line Catholic news-wire service in the UK that first broke the story to its on-line audience regarding the miracle necessary for the beatification of the Venerable John Henry Cardinal Newman that was approved by the Cardinals of the Vatican Congregation for the Causes of Saints on Sunday July 21, 2009, to ICN's over 250,000 on-line readers in a story by ICN Corresspondent Peter Jennings entitled "Miracle approved for Newman beaftification."

Following this exclusive segment with ICN founder and Editor Josephine Siedlecka from the UK, we interviewed Father Joseph Occhio, Associate Pastor of St. Benedict Church in Toronto, who told us about St. Benedict whose Feast Day is this Saturday July 11, 2009. Father Occhio is discussed his vocation as a Salesian of Don Bosco during both the year long celebrations throughout the world to mark the 150 years since Don Bosco founded the Society on December 18, 1859, and the Year For Priests that got under way on June 19, 2009, on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Finally we interviewed a future priest in this the Year For Priests. Ricardo Canlas, has been the Program Co-ordinator at St. Jude's Academy of the Arts run by St. Bernadette's Family Resource Centre for the past few years. Ricardo shared some of his experience working with the physically and challenged young adults at St. Jude's Academy of Arts and how he feels about leaving St. Jude's Academy of the Arts in just two days to attend seminary studies after receiving a vocation to become a priest.
